WWE found themselves in a tricky position on the May 8 edition of Monday Night Raw.

Following a molten crowd for the Backlash pay-per-view in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 6, WWE headed to Jacksonville, Florida for the post-Backlash episode of Raw, only to find themselves with a quieter-than-expected audience. This ultimately caused WWE to fill the TV broadcast with piped-in crowd noise, a decision which is often criticised as it rarely sounds real.

According to WRKD Wrestling, WWE felt they were in a "no-win situation" over the crowd noise as they were stuck between piping in cheers and boos or simply broadcasting the quiet crowd.

"Production at last night's #WWERaw from Jacksonville, Florida was aware of the lackluster crowd responses compared to this weekend's events. We heard it described as a 'no-win scenario,' either they use the filler crowd noise or they broadcast the silent crowd on TV," WRKD Wrestling tweeted.

WWE even piped in audio for Brock Lesnar's attack on Cody Rhodes to cost him a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The overwhelming view online was the crowd was at least loud enough for this segment and Fightful Select noted that several within WWE also thought the piped-in audio was unnecessary for this part of the show.
