Report: WWE Has Considered Having Randy Orton Hold The WWE Championship Until WrestleMania 37

If The Viper wins on Sunday...

The Biggest Party Of The Summer is only two days away as SummerSlam 2020 will be broadcast from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Multiple headline matches have been added to the card as Drew McIntyre will defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton, Dominik Mysterio will defend his father's honour in a Street Fight against Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman and "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt will clash over the Universal Title.

A big title change could be on the cards as WWE is reportedly considering booking Randy Orton to defeat The Scottish Psychopath and capture the WWE Title.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that if Orton does indeed leave the ThunderDome with the championship, WWE has contemplated having him hold the belt until WrestleMania 37 and his I Quit match with Edge would become a title bout.

Meltzer did note, however, that other members of WWE Creative have been pushing for McIntyre to retain as they feel the company needs a newer star at the top of the card as opposed to someone who has been prominently featured for a long time.
