WWE are working on plans for Rey Fenix amidst expectations he will end up signing for the company.

As of last word, Rey Fenix was under contract with All Elite Wrestling and is signed to the promotion until well into 2025 after AEW added around one year of injury time to his deal. This came after AEW reportedly discovered that Rey Fenix and his brother Penta (FKA Pentagon Jr & Penta El Zero Miedo) had been in talks with WWE while under contract with All Elite Wrestling.

It was reported earlier this month that Rey Fenix and AEW were in negotiations over his release but it is unknown if Fenix was ever let go by the promotion. AEW released other talents not being used in Miro and Ricky Starks in February, while Malakai Black's contract expired.

Although Rey Fenix may still be signed to All Elite Wrestling, WWE's preparations for Fenix coming in are underway and the company are making plans for the former AEW International Champion, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The nature of WWE's plans for Fenix are unknown but he may end up being paired with Penta to reform the Lucha Bros.

Penta exited AEW in December 2024 and made his WWE debut on the January 13, 2025 edition of Monday Night Raw. He has been featured on the Netflix show ever since.
