Whilst WWE are believed to be in the midst of an unofficial hiring freeze due to the takeover by Endeavor, reports are suggesting that a former tag team may have been secretly re-signed to the company.

Per a report from Fightful Select, former SmackDown and NXT Tag team Champions AOP/Authors of Pain are allegedly back in the company, with sources suggesting that Akam and Rezar have been back in the fold since 2022.

The team were blighted by injury problems during their time on the main roster, and were released by WWE in 2020. The two have not wrestled since then, but were believed to have been brought back to the company post Vince McMahon’s exit in Summer 2022.

Earlier reports had suggested that WWE were looking at bringing the team back, and whilst AOP back in WWE has not yet been confirmed, sources have suggested that AOP made sure that Paul Ellering was heavily involved in negotiations regarding their potential return.

AOP’s last match came in March 2020 when they teamed with associates Seth Rollins and Murphy to defeat the team of The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders on an episode of Raw.
