Report: WWE Reached Out To Komander Ahead Of AEW Debut

The young luchador is currently a sought-after talent

A new report has suggested that WWE reached out to Komander prior to the luchador's AEW Dynamite debut.

In a profile on the high-flying sensation, Sports Illustrated noted that "AEW has interest in signing Komander, and Sports Illustrated confirmed with sources that WWE had already reached out in advance of his match on Dynamite".

It was previously reported that the 24-year-old had caught the eye of WWE.

Though it was considered a breakout performance for Komander, Tony Khan initially wanted El Hijo del Vikingo for last week's Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. However, when it became clear that he was unavailable, Khan opted for Komander.

Komander is believed to be under contract to the KAOZ promotion in Mexico and it is understood that he would be unable to sign for either AEW or WWE without their approval.

Prior to his appearance for AEW, Komander had wrestled for PWG, GCW, MLW and other American independent promotions.

Speaking about his future to SI, the masked man said:

"It's very humbling to hear that people want to know where I'm going next. That is a huge honour, to be spoken of in such a manner. I came from nothing. I had absolutely nothing. I did this because it is what I love to do.

"I understand that my career could be just like my rope walk - it could be a great success, or it could be a failure. No matter what happens, I'm always going to get back up. I never did this for the fame. I do it out of love. Whatever comes next is a blessing"
