Report: WWE Releases Grizzled Young Veterans

The Schism members had asked for their releases

After it was reported Monday that NXT peformers Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler had asked for their releases from WWE, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the two individuals had their request granted by the company.

Fightful Select had the initial report about Reid and Fowler's request. The report indicated that it wasn't clear why the two men asked for their releases.

Reid and Fowler teamed with Schism members Joe Gacy and Ava as part of an eight-person tag at NXT Stand and Deliver earlier on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Reid and Fowler previously wrestled as the Grizzled Young Veterans, under the names James Drake and Zack Gibson, respectively. Under those names, the two were the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team champions, holding the belts for seven and a half months in 2019. The two were also finalists in the 2020 and 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classics.

Drake and Gibson also previously held the PROGRESS Tag Team titles on three occasions.

The two joined up with Gacy on NXT last July, taking on their new individual handles, as well as the team name of The Dyad. The three collectively became known as Schism, and later grew to include Ava (Raine).
