Report: WWE SmackDown Could Move From FOX In 2024

WWE SmackDown reportedly could move off FOX in 2024

When WWE SmackDown moved to FOX in 2019 it prompted a shift within WWE, with SmackDown soon eclipsing Raw as WWE’s flagship show.

However, a new report has suggested that SmackDown’s future across FOX may not be certain, with Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio suggesting that the network may be unwilling to pay much more to keep the programme on its airwaves:

“Even though you can't cross-promote on the shows themselves, you can still put the commercials, but I don't see WB going for that one. It would take a ridiculous offer, and WBD's already strapped for cash. So I don't see that one happening. But we'll see. You know, there's been a lot of talk, you know, NBCU will probably keep Raw and SmackDown, you know, there's a lot of talk that FOX is not willing to go much higher for SmackDown, so somebody may get them. So we'll have to wait and see how that all turns out. But the NBA's looking for a giant increase,” said Meltzer when discussing WWE’s upcoming TV rights negotiations.

WWE's media rights in the United States for Raw and SmackDown are set to expire in September 2024 and the company are currently in talks with a range of media companies, including OTT streaming services.
