WrestleMania 40 night one was main evented by one of the biggest tag team matches in WrestleMania history as The Rock and Roman Reigns teamed together against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The match determined the stipulation for Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes on night two.

The Rock and Roman Reigns ultimately won in the main event of night one, with The Bloodline gaining the upper hand after The Rock whipped Cody Rhodes on the back as Cody was about to hit Roman Reigns with a third Cross Rhodes in a callback to WrestleMania 39. Reigns then speared Cody and tagged in The Rock, who proceeded to connect with a Rock Bottom and People's Elbow for the win. As a result of the win, the main event of night two will be contested under Bloodline Rules.

Dave Meltzer reported in the F4WOnline Daily Update that the night one main event went 43 minutes and 40 seconds. The main event of night one was "much longer" than originally planned as the four competitors "were going to do largely what they wanted once they were out there to get the story told in the way they wanted."

Tonight's main event is reportedly planned for 45 minutes from the start of the entrances until the end of the night. The match may go longer, though.
