The new partnership between All Elite Wrestling and CMLL began on Wednesday night as Mistico vs. Rocky Romero in a two-out-of-three-falls match was taped for the October 20 edition of AEW Rampage.

The Mistico match was popular with fans as AEW shifted over 2,000 tickets for the Dynamite and Rampage taping in Rosenberg, Texas following the announcement that the former Sin Cara would be in action. Mistico was also popular within AEW and Fightful Select has reported that AEW sources were "very happy" with Mistico's appearance and he was given some credit in helping move tickets for the taping.

There is no word currently on when Mistico will next appear on AEW TV. CMLL issued an official statement on Thursday and expressed their gratitude to Tony Khan and AEW for how their wrestlers and Salvador Lutteroth III were treated on Wednesday night. It was also stated the match could be the beginning of a solid alliance that is beneficial to both companies.

Tony Khan replied: "Thank you @CMLL_OFICIAL + Mr. Salvador Lutteroth, it was an honor to host you at @AEW, and I'm very excited about CMLL + AEW working together & excited for a great weekend of @AEWonTV starting TOMORROW with Mistico vs Rocky Romero CMLL Pound-for-Pound Crown on #AEWRampage on TNT!"
