Full details around why Ludwig Kaiser/El Grande Americano was arrested on Wednesday, May 20 have been revealed within the arrest warrant affidavit for Kaiser, real name Marcel Barthel.
The affidavit for Kaiser's arrest on one charge of battery obtained by NoDQ notes that the incident took place on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the apartment complex where Kaiser lives in Orlando, Florida. The complainant, a white male, has alleged that at approximately 6:30 pm ET, he entered an elevator in the apartment complex and was joined in the lift by Ludwig Kaiser and an unidentified female. As the elevator ascended, Kaiser and the female allegedly started "acting in an 'uncontrollably intimate' manner" which the complainant said was aggressive kissing.
When the elevator reached the 12th floor, the complainant exited the elevator and told the couple to "please have some manners." Immediately after the complainant made the comment, Kaiser allegedly attacked the male by punching him multiple times and pushing him to the ground. Kaiser also threatened further violence towards the complainant.
CCTV footage showed Kaiser punching and pushing the complainant outside of the elevator at the time the incident was alleged to have taken place.
The police officer who responded to the incident observed that the complainant had a large scratch and redness on the back of his head, and the complainant stated he wished to pursue criminal charges.
Marcel Barthel was quickly identified as a possible suspect due to matching the description of the alleged attacker from the CCTV footage. The complainant then identified Barthel in a photographic line-up.
Ludwig Kaiser was arrested on May 20 and booked into an Orange County, Florida jail at 2:37 pm ET on one charge of battery. Kaiser's bonded out of jail on a $1,000 bond at 11:20 pm ET.
Court records obtained by POST Wrestling and PWInsider noted that Barthel only became aware of the arrest warrant against him on May 19 while he was in Mexico for work. He travelled back to Orlando immediately and turned himself in.
On Thursday morning, Barthel entered a not-guilty plea and waived his appearance for purposes of arraignment. Barthel also filed a motion to allow out-of-state and international travel, within which it was noted that he is an international performer who needs to travel outside of Florida and he has no criminal record.
Ludwig Kaiser is scheduled for a major match on Saturday, May 30 in an El Grande Americano vs. Original El Grande Americano Mask vs. Mask Match at AAA Noche de los Grandes.
