A bizarre segment took place on the February 19 episode of AEW Dynamite and we finally know why it went wrong.
Kris Statlander went one-on-one with Megan Bayne on last week's Dynamite and Bayne ultimately picked up the win with an F5 following a distraction from Penelope Ford.
Post-match, Ford and Bayne beat down Statlander until Thunder Rosa ran to the ring with a steel chair to make the save. The segment quickly became awkward, though, as Bayne and Ford stood their ground while Thunder Rosa simply just didn't use the steel chair. Rosa and Ford then had a tug-of-war over the chair before Rosa reclaimed it. Bayne and Ford next slowly exited the ring as Rosa continued to not use the chair as a weapon until the former AEW Women's World Champion finally threw it at Bayne and Ford's feet once they were on the rampway.
While there was speculation that Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne went into business for themselves, Fightful Select has reported the claim within AEW is that was not the case. Instead, the segment being so awkward has been attributed to a coach/producer miscommunication in not instructing the talent where to position themselves.
The segment was discussed after it took place and none of the women have issues working together. Following the segment, though, some within AEW expressed their frustration over Tony Khan not holding production meetings ahead of TV shows.
