Jon Moxley's fourth run as AEW World Champion has been one of the most unpopular reigns with the top belt in promotion history if social media is to be believed, and fans have for months been calling for Moxley to lose the belt and the Death Riders storyline to end.

Despite fan unhappiness with Moxley's run at the top, the Death Riders' leader remains AEW World Champion and he recorded his sixth successful defence of the title at Dynasty, defeating Swerve Strickland in the main event of the pay-per-view.

The overwhelming view on social media was that fans wanted Swerve Strickland to defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship, but Fightful Select has reported they have never heard there was a plan for Swerve Strickland to win the belt. Instead, the plan has always been for Moxley to have a lengthy fourth reign with the AEW World Title.

How All Elite Wrestling view Moxley's reign is also different from fans of the promotion. Fightful noted that AEW have internally touted the success of the Death Riders and Moxley winning the AEW World Championship, even citing a disconnect with online fans. The promotion has claimed that TV quarters with Moxley as AEW World Champion have climbed throughout 2025 and peaked with the Jon Moxley vs. Cope street fight on the March 19 episode of Dynamite.

How much longer All Elite Wrestling plan to keep the belt on Jon Moxley is unknown. He has so far been champion for 180 days.
