Despite holding talks with WWE, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. ultimately signed with AAA, with it being announced at a press conference the former GHC Heavyweight Champion had put pen to paper on a contract with AAA.

According to Planeta Wrestling, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. signed a one-year deal with AAA which runs through the beginning of February 2026. He is able to take independent bookings in the United States as long as they don't conflict with his AAA commitments.

Previous reports noted that El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. had held talks about joining WWE following his Pro Wrestling NOAH departure and Wagner acknowledged those talks in an interview with Mas Lucha. The 33-year-old noted the two sides were unable to reach a deal, though, as WWE preferred for him to not wrestle in a mask. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. didn't rule out joining WWE in the future, though.

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. was a part of Pro Wrestling NOAH from 2019 until he finished up with the promotion on January 11, 2025. He had a 90-day reign with the GHC Heavyweight Championship in 2024 and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. is also a former GHC National Champion and two-time GHC Tag Team Champion with Rene Dupree.
