Rey Mysterio is officially on the injured list, with the legendary luchador missing WrestleMania 41 after picking up an injury on the April 18 edition of WWE SmackDown.
Talking during a Fanatics live signing event during WrestleMania weekend, Mysterio revealed he tore his groin during a six-man tag victory with Rey Fenix and Dragon Lee over American Made on SmackDown:
"It's unfortunate that I suffered a torn groin on Friday night at SmackDown and I wasn't able to perform. Live to fight another day," said Mysterio.
Mysterio was originally set to face El Grande Americano on Night one of WrestleMania, but announced on the Mania pre-show that Rey Fenix would instead be stepping in to face Americano. At Mania, Americano picked up a win over the recently signed luchador.
Some have questioned the decision to have the veteran Mysterio perform so close to Mania itself, with Rey having had numerous injuries throughout his career, never mind in 2025, with the former WWE Champion’s career now spanning five decades.
Mysterio has wrestled at 12 WrestleMania events during his career, with his first mania match coming at WrestleMania XIX back in 2003.
