Rhea Ripley Vs. Asuka Added To WWE WrestleMania Backlash
A rematch from WrestleMania 37
In a rematch from WWE WrestleMania 37 last month, Rhea Ripley will defend her Raw Women's title against the woman she won the title from, Asuka, at WrestleMania Backlash in two weeks time.
WWE.com's write-up reads, "Ripley captured her first Raw Women’s Title from Asuka in a thrilling matchup on The Grandest Stage of Them All, and The Nightmare’s ability and take-no-prisoners attitude makes her a true force of nature. Considering the often unmatched skill of The Empress, will Ripley will have what it takes to best Asuka a second time? Will she be ready for Asuka ... again?"
Asuka had reigned as Women's champion since SummerSlam of last year before losing the championship to Ripley. The win gave Ripley her first title on the main roster, and her first belt within the whole organization since losing the NXT Women's championship one year earlier.
The current card for WrestleMania Backlash, taking place Sunday, May 16, at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, is as follows:
* WWE World: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman
* SmackDown Women's: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley
* Raw Women's: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Asuka
