A bipartisan bill has been named after Ric Flair as the North Carolina Senate looks to investigate the feasibility of establishing a pro wrestling hall of fame in the state.

Senate Bill 404, dubbed the 'Ric Flair Act' was introduced on Monday, March 24. If passed, the act which is officially titled 'An Act to Remember Iconic Combatants through Fostering Learning Awareness and Interest In Rassling' will direct $500,000 to the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to study creating a pro wrestling hall of fame. The agency would be expected to report back to state lawmakers by the Summer of 2026.

The bill was sponsored by Democratic Senator Jay Chaudhari and two Republican senators in Danny Britt and Ralph Hise. Chaudhuri told WRAL:

"Our shared cultured heritage in this state is college basketball, NASCAR and professional wrestling. Professional wrestling still hasn't gotten the recognition it deserves."

Billed from Charlotte, North Carolina, Ric Flair is synonymous with the region due to frequently wrestling in the Mid-Atlantic territory when he was NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, and he remains popular in the region to this day. Flair is a 16-time world champion and he recently teased he would return at WWE WrestleMania 41 to stop John Cena from breaking his record.

Two notable pro wrestling museums currently in operation are the International Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Albany, New York and Waterloo, Iowa's George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.
