Ricky Steamboat To Be Special Referee For World Title Match On AEW Collision Next Week
CM Punk will defend the "real" AEW World Championship next week
CM Punk stirred things up on AEW Collision this week by claiming to be the “real” AEW World Champion. This prompted Ricky Starks to emerge, who has picked up two wins over CM Punk in as many weeks. The pair went back and forth in a promo segment, before agreeing to a title match.
Due to the nefarious nature of Starks’ victories, with him cheating his way to winning, Punk stated that he wanted a Special Guest Referee, which Starks was more than happy to agree to. Punk allowed Tony Schiavone to make the revelation for their title match next week.
Schiavone revealed that it would be none other than Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat who would be acting as the referee next Saturday. This marks Steamboat’s second AEW cameo, with him previously being the timekeeper for the Daniel Garcia vs. Bryan Danielson match last year on the special “House of the Dragon” themed episode of Dynamite.
