WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has explained why he asked fans to 'pray' for his son Jimmy Uso during his absence from WWE television.

The 58-year-old had fans concerned for Jimmy's health, with WWE (via Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp) quickly denying that there was anything wrong with the star.

Addressing the situation on his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi claimed that his intentions were innocent and that his words were taken out of context, saying:

"God forbid I even say anything on social media. Everybody thought that Jimmy was in the hospital. All I said was just 'Send a prayer for my son'. That's it, as any father would give any son… I got so much [flak] for just [being] a father trying to send some prayers for his boy and then boom!"

Jimmy Uso returned from his months-long absence at WWE Bad Blood on October 5.

Rikishi hasn't been shy about discussing his family's activity on WWE television, recently offering his opinion that Jacob Fatu is being pushed too fast by the company.

He did, however, give praise for his son Jey's Intercontinental Championship triumph.
