Rikishi Shuts Down WWE Payback Rumours

Rikishi debunks rumours of being a referee at Payback

Rikishi has often been talked about by fans online as someone who could get involved in The Bloodline storyline, with that ramping up even more as the relationship between two of his sons imploded on WWE programming, as Jimmy Uso turned on his brother Jey Uso at WWE SummerSlam 2023.

Rumours of Rikishi perhaps appearing at WWE Payback emerged this week, as in promotional material for an upcoming meet & greet appearance, it read, “Come meet Rikishi before he referees at Payback”. Of course, this led to fans assuming that Jimmy and Jey would do battle at the upcoming Payback PPV event on September 2, with their father acting as the special guest referee.

Rikishi took to twitter to shut down these rumours, implying that the statement was simply just a mistake from the promoter. Whether or not this is Rikishi saving the surprise or if it was a genuine error on the promotional material is uncertain, though fans will likely know more by the time Payback rolls around.
