Ring Of Honor Reached Out To CM Punk Last Year

ROH wanted The Second City Saint to come home

You’ve probably heard by now that CM Punk is reportedly close to a return to the ring. Although nothing has been confirmed, this is the closest Punk has been to a return to wrestling since his WWE departure, but reports have now emerged that Ring Of Honor tried to coax Punk back in early 2020.

According to Fightful Select, ROH - and specifically former head booker Marty Scurll - reached out to Punk in January 2020, and although the talks didn’t go very far, people within ROH said they were told that ‘story, opponents and general plans were more important than dollars offered’, echoing sentiments Punk himself made on Renee Young’s Oral Sessions podcast.

A Punk return anywhere would be huge news, but especially for ROH, where Punk is heralded as one of the greatest World Champions in company history.

Punk himself has started adding fuel to the fire, posting an Instagram story of a black screen with Alan Parsons Project’s 'Sirius' playing - the walk-out music of the Chicago Bulls, possibly indicating that his own ‘last dance’ is around the corner, and possibly at All Out in Chicago.
