Rob Van Dam & HOOK's AEW Tag Team Name Revealed

Rob Van Dam's time in All Elite Wrestling was not a one-and-done affair following his FTW Title match against Jack Perry in August. Such was the positive reception to RVD's debut that AEW have brought back The Whole F'N Show on two occasions to team with HOOK. The team have so far picked up wins against Angelo Parker & Matt Menard, and Alex Reynolds & John Silver. 

Van Dam and HOOK have yet to be presented with a team name on AEW TV but that could be set to change. RVD revealed on his 1 Of A Kind podcast that the acting name for the team is 'Smoke and Choke.' 

"So I had people on social media threw out some ideas and stuff, and the one that I f***ing loved and that stuck with me, you ready for it? Acting name: RVD and HOOK. Ready? 'Smoke and Choke,'" Van Dam said.

The former WWE Champion is hoping to continue the partnership with HOOK in the coming months, adding: "Looks like we could have a reason to see some more of RVD besides being such a damn good wrestler because now it looks like I got a position. I'm mentoring HOOK and I'm enjoying that too. I like him and also it's really cool. And that's cool how the crowd takes to it because of Taz and me going way back."

The AEW bookings for Van Dam have had unintended consequences, though, as he was officially pulled from any involvement with WrestleMania 40. WWE's biggest show of 2024 will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the home of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
