Rob Van Dam Officially Pulled From WWE WrestleMania 40, Was Booked By AEW 30 Minutes Later

WWE scraps Rob Van Dam's WrestleMania 40 booking

Rob Van Dam has been officially pulled from the festivities around WrestleMania 40 by WWE.

The former WWE Champion previously hinted that WWE had scrapped his WrestleMania 40 booking and he has since confirmed on his 1 Of A Kind Podcast that the company have indeed pulled him from events around WWE's biggest show of the year. RVD's booking came after he began to be used by All Elite Wrestling.

Although Van Dam won't be a part of WrestleMania, there was a silver lining as AEW called him only 30 minutes after WWE cancelled his booking to book him for the October 25 edition of AEW Dynamite in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. WrestleMania 40 will also emanate from Philly, the home of ECW.

"I got a phone call, I picked up because it was from the big company, and had a little talk, and got officially unbooked from Philly. About 30 minutes later, I got another message. Got officially rebooked in Philly from another company. So that was pretty good. In the meantime, I'm just reading letters. 'A. E.' It happened like when I got there and before I left, before I even had a chance to think about the first message, so that's just the universe doing what it does, which is pretty awesome," Van Dam said, revealing he was unbooked and booked while he was having an eye test.

"The reason I don't want to put too much detail on that is because word got out when I said before that I was unbooked and it kind of worked against me because then I had someone inside working on trying to do some damage repair and then I got people on Twitter saying, 'Let's pass this around, man. We need RVD rebooked,' and I was trying not to give that much attention to it because I had someone working on it. Either way, different dates, same town. The one is becoming more and more valuable than the other one to me each time anyway."

Van Dam will team with HOOK once again on the October 25 edition of Dynamite. The Whole F'N Show is scheduled to face Dark Order's John Silver and Alex Reynolds.

The match will be RVD's third in AEW. He previously lost an FTW Title match to Jack Perry back on August 9. Van Dam and HOOK then joined forces on the September 23 edition of Collision to defeat Angelo Parker and Matt Menard.
