Rob Van Dam Reveals Nixed WWE Storyline With Stephanie McMahon
Mr. Monday Night and The Billion Dollar Princess were set to be an on-screen item
Rob Van Dam recently spoke to The Dropkick Podcast, ahead of his upcoming WWE Icons special. The former ECW and WWE Champion talked about his time in WWE, including a nixed angle with Stephanie McMahon.
According to RVD, he was supposed to enter into a romantic angle with Stephanie not long after his WWE debut, but the angle did not happen due to his girlfriend at the time, and because the character Rob Van Dam and the man behind the singlet had become one and the same.
Van Dam said:
“Something that comes to mind is when I first got there they wanted me to do a bit of a romance angle with Stephanie and myself. And my evil ex was like the most insecure b—h on the planet and I was like thinking, ‘oh my God, this gonna cost me so much grief at home.’ We had a talk, me and Stephanie, and she said, ‘you know, just think of this like you’re an actor’. I was like, ‘that’s cool, except you call me Joe Blow because I’ve been Rob Van Dam for the last ten years’.”
