Roman Reigns Inspired Becky Lynch To Turn Heel In WWE
The Man came back at SummerSlam with a new attitude
Becky Lynch returned WWE at SummerSlam 2021 last weekend, ending Bianca Belair’s SmackDown Women’s Championship reign in quick and controversial fashion.
It is since been revealed that Lynch will be working as a heel on the blue brand going forward, and per a report from Dave Meltzer in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter Lynch was inspired to turn heel by Roman Reigns:
“Lynch had asked to return as a heel. Some have said in the company she was inspired by Reigns, and the reality is to many, being a heel is more fun. Of course, the last time she tried to go heel, she became the most popular wrestler in the company and the hottest woman wrestling star the company had ever had.”
It remains to be seen if the live audience will fully accept Lynch as a heel going forward, due to The Man’s organic popularity during her last run, especially in the run-up to WrestleMania 35.
Public perception to Lynch’s return at SummerSlam suggest that the heel turn could work, with many fans online disappointed as to how Belair’s title run ended.
