Roman Reigns To Defend Undisputed WWE Universal Title At House Show

An upcoming WWE Live Event will see Roman Reigns defend his title - but who will his challenger be?

Roman Reigns is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at an upcoming WWE Live Event.

Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio is advertising a title defence for Reigns at the show on June 17. His opponent is said to be Rey Mysterio.

Roman and Rey haven't recently crossed paths in storyline, but both are currently members of the SmackDown brand. Reigns' last match came in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at Night of Champions, where he and Solo Sikoa lost to Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. This came following interference from The Usos - initially meant to help Roman and Solo, but a run-in which eventually saw Jimmy turn on Reigns after mounting tension within the Bloodline stable.

Mysterio has recently been teaming with Santos Escobar on both TV and at house shows. His last two matches saw he and Escobar defeat the team of son Dominik and Damian Priest at house shows in North Carolina and Virginia.

Roman Reigns previously defended the Universal Title against Rey Mysterio in a Hell in a Cell Match on a June 2021 episode of SmackDown.
