Roman Reigns Vs. Kevin Owens Announced For WWE Royal Rumble

Plus some names declare for the Rumble matches

The WWE Universal title will be on the line at the WWE Royal Rumble in three weeks, while a couple of names have been added to the two Rumble matches.

Roman Reigns will defend his championship at the pay-per-view against Kevin Owens, following a challenge made by Owens on the January 6 episode of SmackDown.

In making the challenge, Owens alluded to the friction that existed between Reigns and Bloodline subordinate Sami Zayn, trying to further drive the wedge between them.

In addition, two individuals have been added to the 30-person Rumbles. Santos Escobar has been named to the men's match, after declaring that he would eliminate Kofi Kingston from the match.

On the women's side, Liv Morgan becomes the first person to declare for that Rumble match, doing so in a backstage promo.

The current card for the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble, taking place Saturday night, January 28 at the Alamadome in San Antonio, includes the following:

* Men's Royal Rumble: Kofi Kingston, Santos Escobar, and 28 more TBA

* Women's Royal Rumble: Liv Morgan and 29 more TBA

* Undisputed WWE Universal: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens

* Pitch Black match: Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight
