Ronda Rousey Wins ROH Debut Match

Ronda Rousey makes her ROH debut

Ronda Rousey walked away with the win in her debut match for Ring of Honor.

Rousey's debut aired on Thursday, November 23 and the UFC Hall of Famer teamed with Marina Shafir to defeat ROH Women's World Champion Athena and Billie Starkz.

Athena actually had the match won after she hit Rousey with the O-Face but she wasn't the legal competitor. Billie Starkz then looked to follow up with a Swanton Bomb but Rousey moved and caught Starks in an Armbar. Shafir then blocked Athena from making the save and Starkz ultimately tapped out to the Armbar.

Athena looked to hit Rousey with the ROH Women's World Championship after the match but she missed and ended up falling between Ronda and Marina Shafir. Rousey then grabbed the title belt, hinting at the future match against Athena.

Ronda Rousey vs. Athena has been speculated on for ROH Final Battle on December 15.

Rousey was originally believed to be done with professional wrestling, signalling her retirement only weeks after she departed WWE. Rousey then suddenly wrestled at a Lucha VaVoom event on October 26, however, and she later teamed with Marina Shafir to face Athena and Billie Starkz at Wrestling REVOLVER Unreal on November 16. That match went to a no-contest and played into the ROH encounter that was taped one day later.

Following Full Gear, AEW President and ROH owner Tony Khan admitted he would "love" to have Rousey back for more dates. Rousey is currently working with AEW/ROH on a handshake deal.
