Sami Zayn Disagrees With WWE's Decision To Vacate The Intercontinental Championship
He has declared he is still the champ...

On this week's episode of WWE Backstage, it was announced that WWE had stripped Sami Zayn of the Intercontinental Championship because he was "unable to compete" at the moment. The Underdog of The Underground hasn't appeared on WWE TV since WrestleMania 36 when he successfully defended the IC title against Daniel Bryan because he decided not to travel to tapings during the coronavirus pandemic.
Sami seems less than happy about being stripped of the title in kayfabe as he tweeted that he disagrees with the company's decision and declared he is still the Intercontinental Champion.
Zayn posted: "I disagree with this decision and no matter what anyone says, I am still undefeated and therefore still the Intercontinental Champion."
Later, WWE On FOX asked fans who they think the new IC Champion should be and the former champ posted a quick retort as he replied: "Ashamed of themselves."
The tournament to crown a new Intercontinental Champion begins on this week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown. No participants have been announced as of yet, but some have speculated that Sheamus or Jeff Hardy could walk away with the belt.
