Samoa Joe: It's Only Fitting CM Punk & I Returned To Wrestling On The Same Weekend

The duo came back to wrestling in August 2021

Samoa Joe believes there is some sort of poetic synergy in the fact that both he and CM Punk returned to wrestling on the same weekend.

Samoa Joe made his in-ring return after 16 months out at WWE NXT TakeOver 36, winning the NXT Championship from Karrion Kross on August 22, while just 48 hours earlier Punk ended a seven-year absence from wrestling by joining All Elite Wrestling.

Punk himself would wrestle for the first time since early 2014 on Sunday night at AEW All Out, defeating Darby Allin.

The two Ring Of Honor icons have always been connected, even if their respective careers since have taken them in different directions, and Joe feels it is fitting that they both got their returns so close together.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Joe said: "I notice things like that but at the same time, me and him always had this old adage of 'parallel lives' – he knows what I’m talking about.

"Him returning, me returning at the same time – it’s nothing uncommon, it’s about par for course."
