Samoa Joe Vs. Nick Wayne Postponed Following Day Of Travel Chaos

Samoa Joe's hotly anticipated in-ring return that was originally planned for Wednesday night had to be postponed just one hour before AEW Dynamite went on the air.

AEW CEO Tony Khan announced at 7 pm ET on Wednesday that flight cancellations in the United States meant the match had to be postponed. A new date for the match has yet to be revealed.

Tony Khan wrote on X/Twitter: "Due to flight cancelations from winter weather, we must postpone tonight’s @SamoaJoe vs @thenickwayne match to a future date. The match will be rescheduled, + we're going to all come together to have a great show tonight, it starts very soon."

No one from The Patriarchy and Samoa Joe appeared on AEW Dynamite from Knoxville, Tennessee.

PWInsider noted that "just about everyone" had a day of "travel hell" due to flight delays, which led to talents missing connecting flights on their way to Knoxville. Will Ospreay ended up appearing on Dynamite in his street clothes as Delta Airlines lost his bags while connecting in Atlanta despite his flight being delayed by three hours.

Samoa Joe had been off AEW TV since July due to filming of season two of Twisted Metal. Joe returned to All Elite Wrestling last week, making the save for HOOK.
