Scorpio Sky Wins AEW TNT Title On Dynamite

Man of the Year is man of the hour

Scorpio Sky is the new AEW TNT champion, after defeating Sammy Guevara in the main event of Wednesday's AEW Dynamite in Fort Myers, FL.

In the middle of the match, Guevara attempted a top rope dive to the floor while Sky was on a table, but crashed through when Sky moved away. Guevara sold a rib injury that prompted Tay Conti and Doc Sampson to check on him during a long lull.

Guevara insisted on continuing, and managed to fight back, eventually hitting his GTH. However, Sky got the knees up on a subsequent 630 splash attempt. Ethan Page then climbed to the apron, only for Conti to pull him down. As Conti berated Page, she was attacked by Paige VanZant (who was in the front row).

Guevara was distracted by the skirmish, allowing for Sky to him with a TKO and win.

After the match, VanZant signed her AEW contract on the body of Conti.

Sky becomes the third person to hold two different belts in AEW, following former Tag Team and World champions Kenny Omega and Adam Page. He's the first to hold both the TNT and World Tag Team titles.

Guevara's second reign as TNT champion ends after 42 days. He defeated Cody Rhodes in a ladder match on January 26 to unify his interim TNT title with Rhodes' main title.

Sky will defend his TNT title on next Wednesday's Dynamite against Wardlow (who earned the shot by winning the Face of the Revolution ladder match on Sunday).
