Scrapped Plans For Special Rey Mysterio Entrance At WWE WrestleMania 41 Revealed

Rey Mysterio would have received his classic entrance at WrestleMania 41 had he not suffered an injury ahead of WWE's biggest show of the year.

PWInsider has reported that WWE planned to give Mysterio a special entrance at WrestleMania, which would have been similar to his signature entrance during the early years of his WWE run where he jumped out of the stage. If Mysterio would have used his original WWE theme as well is unknown.

Rey was scheduled to go one-on-one with El Grande Americano on night one of WrestleMania 41, but Mysterio suffered a torn groin on the go-home episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania. Mysterio was replaced by Rey Fenix in the match, and PWInsider has noted there was praise for Fenix within WWE for stepping up as Mysterio's replacement.

The belief is Rey Mysterio would have lost to El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 as it has been reported WWE simply transferred the creative planned for Mysterio to Rey Fenix for the 'Mania match. Fenix lost the match following a loaded headbutt and diving headbutt from Americano.
