Current AEW star Mark Briscoe has opened up about the plans WWE had for him and his late brother Jay in 2013.

Speaking with AIPT Comics, Mark noted that the tag team almost signed with WWE twice, adding that the first time, "We were going to debut with the Wyatt Family" (on the July 18, 2013 episode of Raw).

Homophobic tweets sent out by Jay resulted in WWE rescinding their offer.

The Briscoes received another offer from WWE in 2015 to perform on the NXT brand, but were offered more money to stay in Ring of Honor.

One of the most decorated tag teams ever, Jay and Mark Briscoe continued to wrestle for ROH after Tony Khan had purchased the company, notably competing in a series of acclaimed matches with FTR.

Though Jay had apologised for his past tweets and was, by all accounts, genuinely remorseful, a person of influence within Warner Bros. Discovery reportedly prevented The Briscoes from performing on AEW television prior to Jay's tragic passing in January 2023.

WWE star Sami Zayn recently lauded The Briscoes as 'the best tag team of the past 25 years'.
