Scrapped WWE SmackDown Plans For Cody Rhodes Revealed

Cody Rhodes was originally planned for another segment on the March 7 edition of Friday Night SmackDown but WWE ultimately scrapped those plans.

Fightful Select has reported that Rhodes was scheduled to have a backstage interaction with R-Truth on SmackDown in addition to his promo about John Cena's heel turn. Speculation backstage within WWE suggested the segment with R-Truth was scrapped as it would have affected the gravity of Cody's promo.

R-Truth and Cody Rhodes had a segment together on the go-home edition of SmackDown before Elimination Chamber when Truth scared Cody as the Undisputed WWE Champion didn't realise Ron Killings was in his dressing room. Truth then proceeded to eat the food that The Rock had gifted to Rhodes, while the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion revealed that he thought The Rock was his father, 'Soulman' Rocky Johnson. Truth ended the segment by shoving sushi into his mouth and asking Cody if he could get The Rock to order jelly rolls next time.

Unfortunately for R-Truth, there will be no next time as The Rock persuaded John Cena to turn on Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber, making Cena a heel for the first time since 2003. Truth will seemingly need to visit John Cena's dressing room if he wants some sweet treats from Dwayne Johnson.
