Seth Rollins Vs. Murphy Set For Next Week's WWE SmackDown

Messiah battles Disciple...

On the go-home episode of WWE SmackDown prior to the Survivor Series, Seth Rollins will go one on one with his now former disciple, Murphy.

The impetus for the match came from Friday night's edition of SmackDown, in which Rollins battled Rey Mysterio in what was termed as the pair's final encounter.

Murphy appeared to assist Rollins in the late stages of the match, even handing him a steel chair. However, Murphy double crossed his former mentor, leading to an irate Rollins falling victim to Mysterio's 619 and subsequent frog splash.

Murphy was embraced by the Mysterio family after the match, having apparently earned their trust. Rollins, meanwhile, demanded a match with Murphy on next week's broadcast.

The match takes place two nights before the 2020 Survivor Series, where Rollins will compete as part of the men's SmackDown team (which Murphy actually aided him in qualifying for on last week's SmackDown). Rollins' partners include King Corbin, Kevin Owens, and Jey Uso, with one open spot. Their opponents are AJ Styles, Keith Lee, Braun Strowman, Riddle, and Sheamus.
