It’s been nearly three months since we last saw CM Punk in AEW, with the former two-time AEW World Champion suspended after All Out 2022 for his part in a backstage fight.

The reverberations of Punk’s suspension and rumoured contract buyout are still being felt, as is the All Out brawl itself, with The Elite mocking Punk and Ace Steel on the November 23 edition of Dynamite. Now, AEW’s Shawn Spears has given his thoughts on the situation, saying the following during a digital signing on K&S Wrestlefest:

"Sad, overall sad," Spears said. "That's what I think. It's sad. I wish it didn't happen. That's the other thing too, I wasn't there. Most things do happen publicly, but I wasn't there and I don't have any first-hand knowledge."

Punk’s suspension and now infamous post-All Out press conference came a little over 12 months since the ‘Second City Saint’ signed with AEW, returning to wrestling for the first time in eight years after a well-publicised falling out and exit from WWE.
