Shawn Spears (WWE's Tye Dillinger) Officially Signs With AEW
38-year-old left WWE earlier this year...
Jun 12, 2019
At All Elite Wrestling's Double Or Nothing back on May 25, one of the big surprises of the night saw Shawn Spears appear in the Casino Battle Royale.
After the event, Spears revealed that he
hadn't signed with All Elite Wrestling on a full-time basis.
However, during the latest episode of
AEW Road To Fyter Fest, Spears was announced as the latest signing to the newly-formed company.
Shawn was shown in a vignette questioning if he'd made the right decision - alluding to his decision to
request his release from WWEearlier this year.
Then, All Elite Executive Vice President Cody was shown watching the package with AEW Vice President of Business Operations Nik Sobic, who believed that Spears 'is going to be a star.'
Cody agreed and went onto say that Spears could eventually be a player/coach for All Elite Wrestling.
Interestingly, in a recent
interview with Chris Van Vliet, Spears revealed that his 90-day no compete clause expired the day before Double Or Nothing. Had WWE waited a day to
grant his release, The Perfect 10 wouldn't have been able to appear on the show.
