Sheamus Says Intercontinental Title Triple Threat Should Have Main Evented WWE WrestleMania 39

Sheamus doesn't think anything came close to his match with Gunther and Drew McIntyre.

Sheamus still has goals he wants to accomplish in WWE, almost 15 years since making his on-screen debut.

One of those goals includes main-eventing WrestleMania, something the Celtic Warrior believes he should have done last year when he competed in a lauded triple Threat Intercontinental Championship match with Gunther and Drew McIntyre.

Speaking about his goals during a recent appearance on Virgin Media Sports Stories, Sheamus said:

"The IC Title. That's it. I want to main event WrestleMania too. I want to main event WrestleMania, that's another one. The IC Title and main event WrestleMania are the two things I want to do. I should have main evented WrestleMania (39). It should have gone on last. It stole the show at WrestleMania. Nothing came close, match-wise, the match me, Gunther and Drew had. I knew that was always going to be the case. I was so close (to winning the IC Title) at 'Mania, and it just got taken away from me".

The 45-year-old has been out of action with a shoulder injury since August. The former WWE Champion was initially advertised for the December 8 and December 15 episodes of SmackDown, though he ended up not appearing.

It is currently unknown when Sheamus will return to action. His contract is reportedly set to expire this year.
