Shingo Takagi is the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

The Dragon went one on one with Kazuchika Okada for the vacant title in the main event of Dominion today and both men fought back and forth for 36 minutes. Takagi connected with a Pumping Bomber down the stretch and after an exchange of reversals, Shingo followed up with a Running Uppercut and Last Of The Dragon for the 1-2-3.

With the win, Takagi adds to his list of accolades in New Japan Pro-Wrestling since joining the company in 2018. He is already a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, Never Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion and two-time NEVER Openweight Champion. Now, he can call himself IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

Following the match, Takagi's first challenger was revealed. Kota Ibushi had defeated Jeff Cobb earlier in the show and Shingo called The Golden Star to the ring and challenged him to a title match. The first IWGP World Heavyweight Champion immediately accepted and they will go one on one soon.
