Former WWE star Shotzi is receptive to the idea of one day wrestling for AEW, but doesn't want to sign with Tony Khan's promotion based on what she did in WWE.
The one-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champion wants to 'earn' her spot with an impressive indie run, telling The Ariel Helwani Show:
"I wouldn't want to go to AEW just because I was signed with WWE and I expect them to sign me. I want to earn my spot, that's why I want to kill it on the indies, and if they really love what I'm doing for the rest of the year, I'm game".
Shotzi - who is once again wrestling as Shotzi Blackheart - previously made an enemy out of AEW star Chris Jericho after she appeared to mock his cage bump in 2021's Blood & Guts match. Blackheart later clarified that she meant no offence to the inaugural AEW World Champion.
In the interview with Helwani, Shotzi noted that she would also be open to one day returning to WWE, saying:
"I would love to be back at WWE, I loved working there. I didn't love not working there. It was only when I wasn't being used that I was unhappy".
The 34-year-old is experiencing 'overwhelming' interest following the expiry of her WWE contract.
