Solo Sikoa celebrating with Hikuleo, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo

Solo Sikoa is the new WWE United States Champion, winning the belt from Jacob Fatu following interference from the returning Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, and the debuting Hikuleo at Night of Champions.

Jacob Fatu had the match won at one point, only for JC Mateo to distract the referee as Tonga Loa returned and hit a Corkscrew Neckbreaker on Fatu. The United States Champion kicked out, though, and followed up with a Suicide Dive to take out Mateo and Loa before a Best Moonsault Ever to Solo Sikoa.

As Fatu made the cover, Mateo distracted the official and Hikuleo (who was not mentioned by name) suddenly appeared, dragged Fatu out of the ring, and hit a Chokeslam on the announce table. A Samoan Spike from Solo Sikoa back inside the squared circle was enough for the win.

With the title change, Jacob Fatu's reign as United States Champion came to an end at 70 days. Solo Sikoa, meanwhile, won his first singles title on the main roster.

Hikuleo has been under contract with WWE since July 2024, having joined the company following his departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling after eight years with NJPW.

WWE simply had Hikuleo benched until the company finally booked him to wrestle in a couple of dark matches at SmackDown tapings on June 13 and June 20. It then emerged on Friday that Hikuleo had travelled to Saudi Arabia with the rest of the WWE roster, fuelling rumours he could debut at Night of Champions.

Tonga Loa had been out of action since suffering an injury in the Men's WarGames Match at Survivor Series 2024.
