Sonny Onoo Claims AEW Tried To Bring In Ultimo Dragon

The legend apparently almost ended up in AEW

All Elite Wrestling was interested in bringing in Ultimo Dragon before the COVID-19 pandemic began, professional wrestling manager Sonny Onoo has claimed.

"When AEW first started televising stuff, Tony Khan did contact me and we were trying to work something out to bring in Ultimo Dragon. At that point, I was going to be on camera with him and manage him. Pandemic hits and he got stuck in Japan," Onoo said on Perched On The Top Rope.

Plans were ultimately scrapped following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. If AEW has any plans to work out a deal with Ultimo Dragon or Sonny Onoo in the future is currently unknown.

A legend of professional wrestling, Ultimo Dragon has competed for promotions around the world including, WWE, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, CMLL, All Japan Pro-Wrestling and WCW.

Sonny Onoo managed Dragon in WCW, during which the innovator of the Asai Moonsault became a two-time Cruiserweight Champion. Ultimo Dragon currently performs in Dragon Gate and works backstage as a senior adviser.
