SPOILERS: Pro Wrestling Legend Makes Shock Appearance At AEW Rampage Grand Slam

A reunion with Sting in AEW

A pro wrestling legend returned to All Elite Wrestling during Wednesday's taping of Rampage Grand Slam at New York City's Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Sting teamed with Darby Allin against House of Black's Brody King and Buddy Matthews in the opening contest. Down the stretch, Matthews moved to attack a handcuffed Sting with a baseball bat but The Great Muta shockingly arrived and spat mist into Buddy's face. A disorientated Matthews then bumped into Julia Hart, sending her crashing through a table, and Sting picked up the win for the babyfaces soon after.

Sting and The Great Muta then embraced following the match as the fans looked on.

Sting and The Great Muta were longtime rivals and partners in WCW and NJPW during the late 1980s and 1990s and fans had been hoping they would reunite during Keiji Mutoh's retirement tour. The legend will retire on February 21, 2023, inside the Tokyo Dome.

Mutoh previously appeared in AEW back at Full Gear 2019 when he was a judge for the AEW World Championship match between Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes.

Rampage Grand Slam will air on Friday, September 23.
