At the 2024 Forbidden Door PPV, Mercedes Moné and Stephanie Vaquer clashed for both the TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, with Moné walking out as a double champion. Shortly following their acclaimed effort, it was announced that Vaquer had signed with WWE.

On Instagram, Moné spoke glowingly about her match with Vaquer, remarking about the fact that despite their short planning time and the language barrier, they produced a great match. On Vaquer signing with WWE, Moné stated that she’d “like to think our match had a say in that.”

Vaquer responded with her own Instagram story to Moné’s words, also having nothing but positive words to say.

"Before that match I had 4 days of just sleeping on planes and weeks of working daily, also many hours without eating, a great challenge with a great wrestler, she was really nice. When you work hard for a long time it always brings rewards."

Vaquer made her in-person NXT debut this past week after several teases. She is set to make her in-ring debut next week, going head-to-head with Wren Sinclair.
