Steve McMichael Feeling Better Following Hospitalisation

Steve McMichael recovering from illness

There is hope that Steve "Mongo" McMichael will be able to return home later this week, having responded well to antibiotics.

Sports anchor Jarrett Payton, a family friend, tweeted: "Update on Steve McMichael: Great news - Mongo is feeling better and he's responding well to the antibiotics. The hope is to have him back at home on Tuesday. Please keep sending up your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family."

McMichael was hospitalised and admitted to the ICU on Thursday night with a urinary tract infection. McMichael then developed an MRSA infection and he required a blood transfusion.

McMichael was diagnosed with ALS in January 2021. He was previously admitted to the ICU in August 2023 due to sepsis and pneumonia.

McMichael was a part of World Championship Wrestling in the 1990s as a commentator and later as a member of the Four Horsemen. Mongo is a former WCW United States Champion.

The former WCW talent joined the company after a career in the NFL. He will be one of the 2024 inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
