Steve "Mongo" McMichael Hospitalised

Best wishes to Steve McMichael after he was hospitalised on Thursday night

Steve "Mongo" McMichael is currently in intensive care after being taken to hospital on Thursday night. 

McMichael was admitted to Silver Cross Hospital ABC 7 Chicago reported, with a family spokesperson initially noting that McMichael had suspected pneumonia. An update has noted he is dealing with a urinary tract infection. McMichael is suffering from a fever and is said to be very lethargic. 

"Steve is fighting a Urinary Tract Infection. He is on three antibiotics and is being admitted to the ICU this evening. Continued prayers are appreciated for Steve's speedy recovery. Thank you!" McMichael's family wrote.

McMichael's admission to hospital comes shortly after it was announced he was one of the 2024 inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Mongo had a long career in the NFL, primarily with the Chicago Bears where he won a Super Bowl.  

McMichael was diagnosed with ALS, often known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in January 2021. He was admitted to the ICU in August 2023 due to sepsis and pneumonia. 

In professional wrestling, McMichael is primarily known for his run in WCW as a commentator and later a member of the Four Horsemen. He is a former WCW United States Champion.
