The KOPW Title match at NJPW The New Beginning in Nagoya has a stipulation
Jan 16, 2024
New Japan Pro Wrestling’s KOPW Championship is one of the more unorthodox titles in mainstream professional wrestling, with each match being contested under a stipulation proposed by one of the participants and voted on by fans.
Heading into NJPW’s New Beginning in Nagoya event on January 20, provisional KOPW Champion Taiji Ishimori is set to put the title on the line against Great-O-Khan, with a public vote siding overwhelmingly with the champ’s choice of stipulation.
Whilst O-Khan proposed a Bull Rope Death Match, Ishimori instead proposed an ‘Ishimori Ring Fit Match’, with fans voting 77.4% in Ishimori’s favour.
New Japan proceeded to outline the rules of the match after making the bout official:
Ishimori will defend his KOPW 2024 belt against Great-O-Khan in a 10-minute Ishimori Ring Fit match. 10 minutes will be on the clock, with the last title holder at the end of the time limit the victor. Additionally, at three minute intervals, the two must stop for 30 seconds of high intensity circuit training.
