Surprise Over Metalik Refusing To Lose On AEW Rampage

Metalik’s apparent refusal to lose on AEW Rampage caused surprise

Nobody likes to lose, even in wrestling with it recently revealed that Metalik allegedly refused to take the L against Komander on an episode of AEW Rampage.

Metalik apparently refused to do the job during the October 25 Rampage tapings (that aired October 27) with Rampage itself ending up as a three match show. A follow-up report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests there was surprise within AEW at Metalik’s refusal to lose, as the luchador is not under contract with AEW, and such a move is likely to hurt future bookings for him in the company.

Meltzer also suggests that this could harm his chances of landing an AEW contract, and it’s seen as unlikely that he’d ever go back to WWE.

Metalik himself has claimed that the story isn’t true, but multiple sources allegedly confirmed it to be true to Meltzer. A further report suggested that Metalik didn’t want to do consecutive jobs without a contract potentially hurting his negotiating position in the industry, a decision which AEW reportedly understood.
