Swerve Strickland could potentially be set for a break from All Elite Wrestling, with the former AEW World Champion reportedly dealing with injury concerns.
A segment on the August 13 edition of AEW Dynamite noted that doctors had checked Strickland over due to knee problems, with a report from Fightful Select stating that the angle was an extension of real life as Strickland has been working with a torn meniscus.
Strickland originally tore his meniscus in 2019 whilst at the WWE Performance Center, but rested the injury for four weeks rather than getting any medical procedures. This time around, the Jacksonville Jaguars medical team are assisting Strickland in working through the injury and assisting with his recovery. However, there is a chance that Strickland could need surgery and time off.
Whilst Strickland is set to face Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Title at Forbidden Door on August 24, it seems that this may not have always been the plan, with Swerve originally meant to take time off after All In Texas in July - obviously this did not come to pass. Swerve did miss some TV time in early 2025 due to an eardrum injury.
