WWE’s 2025 Royal Rumble premium live event is set to take over the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 1, and on last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, a brand new match was added to the card.

After weeks of bad blood building ever since Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano turned heel and cheated their way to the WWE Tag Team Championships, they will finally defend the gold against former champions Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns. It was announced that the match will be contested in a Two-out-of-Three falls match. The two teams faced off earlier in the month, but this rematch ended in a No Contest.

This marks the first time that either of the men’s tag titles in WWE have been defended on a premium live event since all the way back at WrestleMania 40, when the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles were split back up to separate RAW and SmackDown brands. On SmackDown, several new names announced their participation in the respective men's and women's Rumble matches.

The updated Royal Rumble card is as follows:

  • Men’s Royal Rumble Match
  • Women’s Royal Rumble Match
  • Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens - Undisputed WWE Championship, Ladder
  • DIY (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns - WWE Tag Team Championship, Two-out-of-Three falls
